In a ceremony held at The Peninsula Manila on March 23, Iriga City Mayor Madellaine Yorobe Alfelor was awarded by the National Resilience Council as Resilience Champion due to her leadership and dedication to serve her city and all the Irigueños at all times.
NRC believed that the city mayor’s eagerness to stand tall and ability to adopt the Local Government Unit Program continuously give inspiration to her constituents in the city of Iriga.
NRC is a “science and technology-based public-private partnership that supports government, communities, the academe, and the private sector in advancing  the intersecting goals of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris Climate Agreement, the New Urban Agenda, and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR)’s Making Cities Resilient Campaign.”
