Mayor Rex C. Oliva, during Local School Board (LSB) monthly meeting, approved P5K assistance to students who will be representing the city in the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) in Cagayan de Oro from July 17 to 21, 2023.
According to school officials, the students will be receiving P13K subsidy from the Central Office to cover the travel expenses which will pretty much cover only the airfare. They sought assistance from the city mayor to cover the incidental and land travel expenses of the students. They said that any assistance they will be getting will greatly help them alleviate their financial burden.
Thirteen (13) students will be competing in the national level, accompanied by their coaches and school officials, who shall be receiving assistance too from the city. In this year’s NSPC, only the top regional winner per event will compete in the individual categories and only one team, composed of five members, per event in the group categories.
Mayor Rex expressed his commitment to support the school programs and activities of the Department of Education and urged School Division Superintendent Mariano de Guzman to encourage all schools to utilize the P50K Special Education Fund allotted to them.
Matters discussed during the meeting were the accomplishments during the Palarong Bicol, ALS Encampment, Regional Press Conference, Regional Festival of Talents. Updates on the repair and rehabilitation of the sports facilities and Library and SEF Utilization and Obligated Report were also discussed during the meeting.
